DeKalb County Board chair to host race relations forum on Wednesday

DeKalb County Board Chairman Mark Pietrowski is hosting an online forum on race relations in the county on Wednesday.

There have been Black Lives Matter protests in DeKalb every day since Saturday in response to the death of George Floyd in the custody of Minneapolis police last week. Ex-office Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes prior to his death.

There was looting in town on Sunday.

The forum is to discuss justice, equality, race and systemic issues, a release from Pietrowski said.

“Our goal is for us to listen to each other and the stories and experience we bring to the table and learn,” Pietrowski said.

The release said the forum does not have to be a one-time event and is the start to a conversation that is in great need.

The zoom meeting ID is 837 3064 9623 and the password is 411822.
