DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office made four impaired driving arrests and issued 66 seat belt citations during their Fourth of July “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies also issued 16 speeding citations, 22 operating uninsured citations, 14 citations for using a cell-phone without a hands-free device, and 35 other citations.
In total, 153 citations were issued in the nearly 3-week campaign, the release shows.
More than 160 state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois participated in the statewide effort to crack down on drunk and impaired drivers and courage seat belt use, according to the release.
The campaigns were funded by federal traffic safety funds administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation, the release states, and included additional patrols as well as media campaigns.
