DeKalb crash sends 2 to hospital

DeKALB – A crash Tuesday morning at the eastbound ramp of Interstate 88 and Peace Road sent two people to the hospital and resulted in one driver receiving a ticket.

At 11:26 a.m. a 2007 Hyundai Accent drive by Constance M. Arends of Sycamore was heading southbound on Peace Road when it turned left onto the on-ramp, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, crashing into a 2006 Chrysler Caravan.

Both Arends and the driver of the Caravan were taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital by DeKalb fire. A passenger in the Caravan was uninjured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Arends was given a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, according to the news release.
