DeKalb Library to begin BARB Book Club for kids

DeKALB – Kids who miss talking about books with their friends are invited to join the DeKalb Public Library’s new BARB (Books Are Really Brilliant) Book Club. The first meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, on Zoom.

In July, the group for students in grades 1-5 will discuss “A Boy Called Bat.” The book is available for free on Hoopla, and there aren’t a limited number of copies, so everyone can read it.

If you are wondering if this book is a good fit for your child, read the Common Sense Media review of the book’s content at https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/a-boy-called-bat. This is a chapter book, so younger readers will probably need to either have you read the book to them or listen to the audio book.

Register for this event at dkpl.org. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to the Zoom meeting, a phone number to call into the meeting, and a password. Join the Zoom meeting five minutes prior to the program, especially if you haven’t used Zoom before. This program has a limit of eight participants.

If you have any questions or have trouble getting the book, contact Laura at lauraw@dkpl.org.
