DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library will offer multiple free virtual events the week of June 22 through 28.
Virtual bedtime stories at home will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 22. The virtual event, hosted by Miss Jen, will be held via Facebook Live on the page “DKPL Stories at Home.”
Virtual stories at home will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 25. The virtual events, hosted by Mr. John and Ms. Laura, will be held via Facebook Live on the page “DKPL Stories at Home.”
A virtual game night of UNO for teens will be held via Zoom meeting from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 23. The game is limited to the first 20 teens ages 12 to 17 that register.
A virtual pirate story time, presented by Parties with Character, will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 24 via Facebook Live on the page “DeKalb Library Superhero + Princess Story Time Event Series.” All attending families are automatically entered to win a 10-minute Parties with Character diamond package video call with the story time character directly after the event.
Virtual Anime and Manga for Adults will be held via Zoom from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25. The virtual anime club session will feature a round of anime trivia and episodes of “Arte.” The session is limited to the first 20 adults who register.
A virtual session of Game of Geekery will be held via Zoom from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 25. Game of Geekery is a trivia game with categories such as Name that Tune, Family Feud, Price is Right, #BadDescriptions and more. There will be prizes for the winning team. The session is limited to the first 20 adults who register.
The Lego Club will meet virtually via Zoom from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, June 26. Children and their parents can show off their latest creations and build animal-related creations.
Medicare 101 will be held virtually via Zoom from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 27. Licensed Sales Representative Carol Cherry will discuss the different parts of Medicare.
StoryCorps will host a one-hour webinar, Recording Community Stories during COVID-19, from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27. StoryCorps Connect is the organization’s newest service developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hour-long webinar will feature stories, tips and best practices for recording a conversation of your own with a loved one.
