DeKalb’s Route 23, Route 38 railroad crossing closed for up to 12 days beginning Monday

DeKALB – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the Route 23 and Route 38 Union Pacific Railroad grade crossing in DeKalb will be closed beginning Monday for up to 12 days.

In order to provide a detour that will accommodate truck traffic, the following detour routes will be used:

Route 23 northbound traffic will proceed east on Fairview Drive to Peace Road, then north on Peace Road to Barber Greene Road, then west on Barber Greene Road back to Route 23.

Route 23 southbound traffic will proceed east on Barber Greene Road to Peace Road, then south on Peace Road to Fairview Drive, then west on Fairview Drive back to Route 23.

Route 38 westbound traffic will proceed south on Peace Road to Fairview Drive, then west on Fairview Drive to Route 23, then south to Harveststore Street to Fairview Drive, then west on Fairview Drive to Annie Glidden Road, then north on Annie Glidden Road back to Route 38.

Route 38 eastbound traffic will proceed south on Annie Glidden Road to Fairview Drive, then east on Fairview Drive to south First Street, then south on South First Street to Harveststore Drive, then east to Route 23, north to Fairview Drive, east to Peace Road, then north on Peace Road back to Route 38.

Motorists are urged to use caution and expect some delays while traveling the detour route. Slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
