Eastland powerlifters compete at Warrior Regional

Eastland High School powerlifters Paul Sturtevant, Cody Cole, and Natalie Colehour competed at the IHSPLA (Illinois High School Powerlifting Association) Warrior Regional on March 19.

The event was hosted by McHenry Community High School in McHenry.

Sturtevant, a senior football player who has also wrestled, participated in track, and currently plays for the baseball team, squatted 410 lbs, bench pressed 265 lbs, and deadlifted 475 lbs while competing in the 220l bs weight class.

“These all represented personal records for him. Junior Cody Cole, a member of the EPC football team, competed in the 165 lbs weight class and squatted 410 lbs, bench pressed 225 lbs, and dead lifted an astounding 470 lbs, which is almost 3-times his bodyweight. In addition to his personal records, Cole also recorded a 1000 lbs total for the first time in a powerlifting meet. Colehour, a sophomore who is a member of the track team, set personal records with a 190 lbs squat, a 125 lbs bench press, and a 265 lbs dead lift. More importantly, Colehour was the 148 lbs weight class Regional Champion and qualified for the IHSPLA State Meet later this spring,” said Chris Dertz, coach.
