Family Service Agency to host open house

DeKALB The Family Service Agency of DeKalb County will host an open house Monday and all who wish to see the agency’s new digs are welcome.

Located at 1325 Sycamore Road, the building opened in September, and staff members are inviting community members to come see the new space Monday from 5 to 7 p.m., with refreshments provided by Taxco and Bea’s Wok ’N Roll.

Staff members will also rebury a time capsule that the agency first buried at their old location in 2001. The capsule is filled with newspaper clippings and organizational documents, along with newsletters, T-shirts and a video tour of the old space, 14 Health Services Drive.

It’s meant to be opened in 2056, the agency’s 100-year anniversary.

The agency purchased the three-story, 15,000-square-foot building for $475,000 in June 2018. A former Associated Bank, the building was renovated by Irving Construction and Finney’s Electric beginning in April. The move was to better house the agency’s growing number of staff and programs.
