Firefighters respond to early morning fire in Carriage Lanes

Reading Volunteer Firefighters responded at 4:28 a.m. Sunday to the 300 block of Carriage Lane after a shed caught on fire.

Lieutenant Darrell Porter said the fire then extended into a trailer and caused an estimated $20,000 worth of damage. No injuries were reported.

Family of the homeowner said everyone is safe and sound, although they’ve lost everything, including their Christmas presents.

Firefighters responded to the fire over a span of 10 minutes and had the fire out within 15 minutes. Firefighters were on the scene for an hour and a half.

Long Point, Cornell and Streator Firefighters all assisted at the scene.
