Former DeKalb police officer hired as new Assistant City Manager

DeKALB – The City of DeKalb announced they’ve hired former DeKalb police officer Josh Boldt to fill their vacant Assistant City Manager position.

“Mr. Boldt’s demonstrated life of public service, respected skills in problem-solving, and his consideration of diverse perspectives will serve the City well,” said City Manager Bill Nicklas in a news release. “Boldt’s leadership skills, analytical abilities and financial acumen were highly regarded by the interview panel consisting of community and staff members.”

Boldt joined the City of DeKalb as a police officer in 2011 and has served as a Field Training Officer and been actively involved in community outreach, the release states. Boldt has held the positions of Treasurer for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 115 and Trustee for the DeKalb Police Pension Board.

Boldt earned both a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Local Government Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies from Northern Illinois University.

Boldt began serving as Assistant City Manager Monday.
