Genoa police respond to stabbing on Main Street

GENOA – Police have a suspect in a stabbing that occurred Monday evening in the 400 block of W. Main Street, Genoa, according to a news release.

At 7:19 p.m., Genoa police responded for a call of a 61-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest at his residence, according to a news release.

According to the release he was stabbed by a 39 year-old Genoa woman.

The man was taken to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford with non-life threatening injuries and was released, according to the news release.

The woman was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb for an unrelated medical reason, according to the release, and she was admitted for additional care.

According to the release, Genoa Police contacted the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office and plan to charge the woman with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with a weapon.
