Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County hosting December orientation meeting

SYCAMORE — Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County will host an orientation meeting for people interested in owners of a Habitat-built home at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Habitat office at 1625 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore, across the street from McDonald’s.

To be considered for a Habitat for Humanity-built hom, those interested must need adequate housing, be able to pay a mortgage, and be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County.

The orientation meeting is mandatory and is the first step to becoming a Habitat home homeowner.

Staff will explain the requirements for a partner family and application forms will be available. Those who want to attend must register with the Habitat office at 815-991-5341 or email the office at hfhdekalbcounty@gmail.com.

Habitat for Humanity builds simple, energy efficient, low-maintenance homes that vary in size depending on the homeowner’s needs. To be eligible, prospective Habitat for Humanity homeowners must be legal residents of the United States and have lived in DeKalb County for 12 months prior to the application date.

The organization is planning to start building its next home in Spring 2020.
