Heads up: DeKalb, Sycamore Homecoming parade routes; rain cancels D-427 Powder Puff game

With a 30% chance of rain on the horizon this evening according to the National Weather Service, the planned annual Homecoming parades for DeKalb District 428 and Sycamore District 427 will proceed as expected, and drivers should take note of routes which may effect the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service, showers in the afternoon Wednesday could turn into thunderstorms, with an 80% chance of rain later in the evening.

DeKalbWhen: Parade begins at 6 p.m. and will have a new route, according to DeKalb High School’s Facebook page.

Where: Participants will line up at 5:30 p.m. on McCormick Drive. The parade will go left on Judy Lane, left on Royal Drive, right on Margaret Lane, left on Heatherfield lane, right on Daniel Lane, left on Dresser Road, and end at DeKalb High School.

The Homecoming Powder Puff football game between the juniors and seniors is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

SycamoreWhen: Parade begins at 6 p.m.

Where: Participants will line up at 6 p.m. on Sycamore Street between California and Maple streets. The parade will go south on Maple, turn right on State, follow it for three blocks and then turn right on Sacramento Street. The parade will take Sacramento for three blocks and then turn right on Sycamore and head back to the staging area.

Powder Puff game canceled: The Powder Puff football game has been canceled, according to the Sycamore High School’s Facebook page. In lieu of the game, the candidates will be introduced in the main gymnasium at 7:15 p.m.
