Here's where each of Illinois' 11 health regions stands as of Thursday

Illinois reported another 25 deaths and 1,257 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state tested 43,006 people over the previous 24 hours. Illinois’ seven-day rolling positivity rate is 3.1%. Illinois has now seen 157,950 total cases of the virus and 7,251 people have died. A total of 2,122,607 people have been tested.

As of late Wednesday night, Illinois had 1,434 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Of those, 311 were in the ICU and 127 were on ventilators.

Regional update: According to the most recent guidelines released by the governor’s office Wednesday, the state will now be broken into 11 “health regions” instead of four.

A region can become more restrictive if it sustains an increase in its seven-day rolling average (seven out of 10 days) in the positivity rate and either a seven-day increase in hospital admissions for COVID-19 or a reduction in hospital medical/surgical beds or ICU capacity below 20%. Restrictive measures could also take place if a region has three consecutive days with greater than an 8% positivity rate.

The North Suburban region (McHenry and Lake counties) has seen five days of positivity increases and one day of hospital admission increases. Currently 40% of medical/surgical beds are available and 58% of ICU beds.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen four days of positivity increases and one day of hospital admission increases. Currently 34% of medical/surgical beds are available and 49% of ICU beds.

The South Suburban region (Will and Kankakee counties) has seen three days of positivity increases and one day of hospital admission increases. Currently 28% of medical/surgical beds are available and 33% of ICU beds.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen six days of positivity increases and one day of hospital admission increases. Currently 44% of medical/surgical beds are available and 59% of ICU beds.

The North-Central region (Bureau, Fulton, Grundy, Henderson, Henry, Kendall, Knox, La Salle, Livingston, Marshall, McDonough, McLean, Mercer, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Tazewell, Warren and Woodford counties) has seen four days of positivity increases and four days of hospital admission increases. Currently 42% of medical/surgical beds are available and 46% of ICU beds.

Chicago has seen two days of positivity increases and zero days of hospital admission increases. Currently 31% of medical/surgical beds are available and 41% of ICU beds.

Suburban Cook County has seen three days of positivity increases and two days of hospital admission increases. Currently 29% of medical/surgical beds are available and 39% of ICU beds.
