How to fill out and send a mail-in ballot in Illinois

More than 2 million mail-in ballots have been requested in Illinois for the 2020 general election. With a record number of mail-in ballots in play during the pandemic, the Shaw Media Local News Network has put together a handy, visual how-to guide to help you successfully fill out your mail-in ballot.

The instruction sheet and envelopes will vary from county to county. For the visual purposes of this, we used a DeKalb County ballot, but the rules apply to other counties in Illinois. The Voters have, and if they haven’t already, will receive an official ballot in the mail to the registered address or the mailing address they requested.
