IDPH announces 1,293 new cases of COVID-19, 81 deaths on Saturday

Illinois has 1,293 more cases of COVID-19 and saw an additional 81 deaths, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Saturday.

Illinois has now seen 19,180 confirmed cases and 677 deaths. The state has tested 92,779 people.

Chicago has 7,784 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the rest of Cook County has 5,633.

Lake County has 1,331 confirmed cases, Will 1,126, DuPage 1,048, Kane 376, McHenry 220, Kendall 103, DeKalb 33, Whiteside 25, La Salle 18, Grundy 17,Ogle 16, Lee 12, and Carroll and Bureau five.

Newly reported deaths include 55 in Cook County, eight in Lake, five in Will and DuPage, two in Kankakee and St. Clair, and one in Champaign, Jackson, McHenry and Winnebago.

The Illinois Department of Veterans Affair is reporting a single employee at the Illinois Veterans Home at Manteno has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is isolating at home and a full contract tracing investigation is underway to determine potential exposures. At this time, there are no positive cases in residents at any of the Illinois Veterans homes.
