IDPH announces 1,585 new cases of COVID-19, 125 deaths on Saturday

Illinois has 1,585 more cases of COVID-19 and saw an additional 125 deaths, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Saturday.

The death total is the highest in a 24-hour period during the pandemic. Illinois also announced 125 additional deaths on Thursday.

Illinois has now seen 29,160 confirmed cases and 1,259 deaths. The state has tested 137,404 people.

Chicago has 12,007 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the rest of Cook County has 8,388.

Lake County has 2,073 confirmed cases, DuPage 1,642, Will 1,603, Kane 582, McHenry 340, Kendall 135, DeKalb 54, Ogle 48, Whiteside 36, La Salle 27, Grundy 26, Lee 17, Bureau eight, and Carroll six.

Newly reported deaths include 100 in Cook County, six in DuPage, four in McHenry, Lake and Will, two in Kane and Kankakee, and one in Kendall, Monroe and Peoria.

Hamilton County reported its first case, marking the 93rd of Illinois’ 102 counties with a confirmed case.
