Illinois announces 1,672 new cases of COVID-19, 43 deaths on Sunday

Illinois has 1,672 new cases of COVID-19 and announced an additional 43 deaths on Sunday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has now seen 20,852 confirmed cases and 720 deaths.

Illinois has tested 100,735 people.

Chicago has 8,503 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the rest of Cook County has 6,082.

Lake County has 1,445 confirmed cases, Will 1,228, DuPage 1,162, Kane 403, McHenry 235, Kendall 105, DeKalb 34, Whiteside 26, Grundy 21, La Salle 20, Ogle 18, Lee 13, Carroll and Bureau five.

“The number of tests completed for today has reached its highest number at 7,956,” Gov. JB Pritzker said. “That is great news on the testing front.”

New deaths included:

DuPage County: 1 female 80s, 1 male 90s

Kane County: 1 female 80s

Lake County: 2 males 70s, 1 male 90s

Will County: 1 male 30s, 1 male 60s, 2 females 80s
