Illinois surpasses 1,000 total COVID-19 deaths

Illinois has 1,140 new cases of COVID-19 and announced an additional 125 deaths on Thursday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. The state has now surpassed 1,000 total deaths, totaling 1,072 as of Thursday.

Illinois has seen 25,733 positive cases of the virus. The state has tested 122,589 people.

As of Thursday, Chicago has 10,642 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the rest of Cook County has 7,445.

Lake County has 1,767 confirmed cases, Will 1,494, DuPage 1,463, Kane 490, McHenry 279, Kendall 119, DeKalb 39, Whiteside 30, Ogle 29, La Salle 25, Grundy 24, Lee 15, Bureau seven and Carroll five.

Newly reported deaths include 92 deaths in Cook County, nine in Lake, seven in Will, four in St. Clair, three in DuPage, two each in Champaign and McHenry counties, and one each in Bond, Christian, Kane, Madison, McLean and Monroe counties.

Alexander County reported its first case, marking the 90th of Illinois’ 102 counties with a confirmed case.
