The Kendall County Board, acting in their dual role as county forest preserve district commissioners, approved changes to the agency’s fiscal policy at a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 2, adding a rule that none of the district’s funds can go into the red.
County board members unanimously adopted the latest action for the district’s budget with little discussion.
Dave Guritz, executive director of the forest preserve district, said the updated policy also changed how long the district must cover future expenditures to four and a half months from two to three.
The district’s fund balance reserve policy was first approved in November 2015.
