KINGSTON – A Kingston woman died following a head-on collision with an SUV Sunday night in rural Kingston.
The crash occurred at about 7 p.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of Cherry Valley Road, east of Myelle Road, about two miles northwest of Kingston.
According to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Cristy E. Fisch, 35, of Kingston, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro west on Cherry Valley Road when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 2012 Honda CRV being driven east by a 60-year-old DeKalb woman.
The driver of the Honda was wearing her seatbelt and taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital with minor injuries by Genoa-Kingston Fire Department, according to the release.
“She just had some cuts and scrapes,” said DeKalb County Sheriff’s Lt. Jim Burgh.
He said the DeKalb woman was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital to make sure she didn’t have internal injuries because it was a high-impact accident.
Fisch, who was extricated from her car, was taken to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center by Kirkland Fire Department where she was pronounced dead.
“Shortly after [Fisch] made it there, we received the call,” Burgh said.
Burgh said he thought both cars were totaled, given the heavy damage to both vehicles.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.
