SYCAMORE – Residents wishing to learn more about property taxes are invited to a free seminar.
The seminar, set for 6 p.m. Monday, is sponsored by state Rep. Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore, at the Sycamore High School auditorium, 427 Spartan Trail.
The seminar is “Understand & Learn How to Appeal Your Property Tax Assessment.” Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussion about local property taxes.
DeKalb County Chief Assessment Officer Robin Brunchson, Treasurer Christine Johnson and Clerk and Recorder Doug Johnson will be on hand to explain the process of determining property taxes and how homeowners can appeal an assessment if they believe they have been overassessed.
Keicher will also provide updates on current efforts in the General Assembly to reform the state’s property tax system and reduce the tax burden on homeowners.
