Local business advocacy groups encourage restaurant support through photo contest

DeKalb County UNITES is urging residents to support their favorite local restaurants while new restrictions are in place due to an increase in COVID-19 positivity rates in Region 1.

Restaurant customers are asked to take a selfie or have a photo taken of their family dining outdoors, picking up food or receiving a delivery from a local establishment and send it to DeKalb County UNITES’ Facebook page messenger.

DeKalb County UNITES and its partner organization, the DeKalb County Convention & Visitors Bureau (DCCVB), will post the photos on their Facebook pages to thank the community for their patronage. UNITES and DCCVB will randomly surprise customers with prizes, including restaurant and bar gift certificates.

Other ideas for supporting local restaurants and bars during restricted operations include:

Bundle up to continue enjoying outdoor service. Wear cold weather gear and eat at one of the many patio seating areas that have been established at restaurants and bars around the county. Extend the season by dressing warmly and enjoying food and drink outdoors. Order food for pick-up and eat at home. Give feedback and meal or item suggestions to restaurant owners. Have meals and small family events catered. Wear a mask to help local establishments comply with local health guidelines and help stop the spread of COVID-19. Tip generously if possible.
