Marengo man faces cocaine, firearm possession charges

A 29-year-old Marengo man who police say planned to deliver more than 15 grams of cocaine and illegally possessed a Glock 19 pistol is due in court Tuesday morning on felony charges.

Damon Otto, of the 700 block of State Street, is charged in McHenry County court with possession with intent to deliver cocaine and providing false information on a firearm owner ID application.

The most serious charge, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, is a Class X felony typically punishable by six to 30 years in prison.

Officers with the North Central Illinois Narcotics Task Force arrested Otto just after 5:30 a.m. Jan. 29., court records show. He’s accused of possessing between 15 and 100 grams of cocaine and a Glock 19 pistol without a valid FOID card.

Police could not immediately be reached to provide further details about the investigation, including how they originally came in contact with Otto.

Otto remained at the McHenry County Jail Monday on a $120,000 bond. He would need to post $12,000 bail to secure his release. He had not yet hired an attorney as of Monday morning.
