The McHenry County State of Addiction and Celebration of Choice Leader Awards, open to residents and business leaders, will take place 3:30 p.m. Monday via Zoom.
Hosted by the McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition, the virtual event will include a discussion of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on substance use in McHenry County, according to a news release. Experts will present the current status of the issue and provide an overview of the services and resources available to address substance use disorder.
Leaders from the McHenry County specialty courts, McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and McHenry County Department of Health will join Live4Lali, New Directions Addiction Recovery Services and Thresholds to discuss the issue.
The event will also include McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition Choice Leader Award honorees Chris Gleason of Brightside Recovery, Rick Atwater of Northwest Community Counseling and the McHenry County Department of Health.
This award recognizes superior professional engagement activities in the community that honor the vision of changing community attitudes toward substance abuse.
