Mendota man injured, charged after police said he fled

A Mendota man was injured in a Tuesday police chase resulting in numerous charges, Mendota police said.

Joseph P. Guzman, 65, of Mendota, was treated and released from OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota after a police chase begun at 1 a.m. Tuesday at Veteran Way and Sixth Street and concluded when Guzman crashed near 579 N. 3973rd Road, police said.

After his discharge from the hospital, Guzman was charged with DUI, reckless driving, fleeing or eluding a police officer, no insurance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, two counts of improper lane use, four counts of disobeying a stop sign and failure to signal when required, police said.
