DeKALB – Walmart is beginning the year well, as they look to launch their new wellness services across the state Saturday, and will be offering low-cost flu shots at all Illinois locations.
It’s not too late to get a flu shot, according to a news release from Walmart Friday, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that flu activity is high across the country and only expected to continue at that rate.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has also designated this year’s flu season as widespread and local hospitals are restricting the number of visitors allowed to see patients in an attempt to limit the spread of influenza.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Walmart locations across the state will offer a free Wellness Day, which will include free health screenings such as a total cholesterol look, test for glucose, blood pressure BMI and vision.
Additional offerings Saturday will include low-cost immunizations like the flu shot, and an opportunity to talk with local pharmacists and other health and wellness professionals.
