Oak Crest Rotary Club cancels March 12 meeting because of Coronavirus

SYCAMORE – The potential threat of Coronavirus in the area has caused the Oak Crest Area Rotary Club to cancel its meeting that was scheduled for Thursday.

Linda Sherman, director of resident programming at DeKalb Area Retirement Center – Oak Crest, sent an email to the club’s members about the cancellation.

She cited the fact that Coronavirus has reached Illinois.

So far 19 cases have been confirmed throughout the state, with the two most recent cases appearing in a teenager in McHenry County and a woman in her 60s in Kane County.

“In an effort to minimize exposure to our residents at Oak Crest, we are cancelling the Rotary meeting on Thursday, March 12th,” Sherman’s email states. “I will keep you posted if precautions require cancelling additional meetings. Thank you for your flexibility.”
