SANDWICH – Residents can take advantage of the hot weather and donate to a charitable cause by taking their car for a wash next weekend.
Aktion Club of Open Door Rehabilitation Center will hold a car wash fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6 at Open Door, 405 S. Wells St., Sandwich, to support Go Baby Go, a project that retrofits battery-operated cars for toddlers born with spina bifida.
Sponsored by Kiwanis International, Aktion Club of Open Door helps give adults living with disabilities the opportunity to develop initiative and practice leadership skills, while also providing members with an avenue to serve their communities, according to an Open Door news release.
Donations will be accepted, but are not required.
Patrons can also purchase a $4 lunch while they wait for their car to be cleaned. Hot dogs, chips and a choice of pop or water will be served.
