Oswego man charged with reckless homicide after fatal crash near Sandwich

An Oswego man faces reckless homicide and aggravated DUI charges after a Monday night crash in which one man was killed.

According to a news release from DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Dylan Wesolowski, 26, of the 700 block of Oxbow Avenue, had been drinking alcohol and was driving a 2007 Lincoln MKX north on Somonauk Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Somonauk and Pratt roads less than a mile northwest of Sandwich.

A passenger in the Lincoln – Michael Jackson, 43, of Valrico, Florida – was ejected from the SUV.

Both Wesolowski and Jackson were taken to Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, according to the release, where Jackson was pronounced dead. Wesolowski was released with minor injuries and and arrested for reckless homicide, aggravated DUI and improper lane usage, according to the release.

He is due in bond court Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the DeKalb County Courthouse.
