Ottawa man arrested after pair of knife incidents reported, including a stabbing

An Ottawa man was arrested Tuesday and is being held on $150,000 bond at La Salle County Jail following a pair of incidents in which police said he brandished a knife — one of them while waiting in a fast food line and the other in which he stabbed his victim.

Sean T. Przybylski, 29, of Ottawa, was arrested Tuesday on charges of vehicular invasion and aggravated battery.

At about 3:47 a.m. Dec. 18, Ottawa police received a report from someone who was in line at a fast food restaurant in downtown Ottawa and was approached by a person behind them. The victim told police the person reached into their car with a knife, causing the victim to speed away uninjured.

Officers were unable to initially locate the suspect, but started working with the business and other locations to collect surveillance video.

At about 8 p.m. Dec. 19, Ottawa police received a second report on the 1300 block of Dakota Drive that a person had been battered. It was discovered the victim was stabbed with a knife, receiving non-threatening injuries.

Video surveillance was obtained by police for the second report.

Based on the surveillance evidence collected, Przybylski was arrested two days later near Cherie Lane and Etna Road, said Ottawa Police Detective Sgt. Kyle Booras.

The felony charges carry possible sentencing ranges of 5 to 10 years if found guilty.
