Pair of downtown Sycamore businesses announce closings

A pair of downtown Sycamore shops announced closures to their stores recently, however both announced plans to continue to serve local customers.

Both UOI Boutique and Whimsical Perspectives announced in Facebook posts their respective shops, both on State Street, will be closing.

UOI Boutique will not close it stores in Oregon and Sterling.

“It is our hope to stay connected with you through Pop Up Shops and events once we are given the clear to resume business,” the owners of the clothing store wrote in a Facebook post last week. “We will continue to sell our products online and at our other two locations in Oregon and Sterling, Illinois. Please keep in touch as we make this difficult transition and know that you are all in our thoughts.”

For Whimsical Perspectives, the owners said they will no longer be focused in Sycamore and will instead focus on their Geneva location.

“The additional stress and workload of having two shops with very different needs during challenging times has caused me to pivot and start a new plan for the future,” the owner wrote in a Facebook post late last month. “The current set of circumstances that has been placed on business owners has made it clear to me that a change is needed. Making this choice allows me to better prepare myself and have more control over the new normal that is ahead.”

The Geneva shop will offer a Sycamore delivery option, the Facebook post read.
