New students still had the usual look of excitement, nerves and anticipation as they moved into their residence halls at Northern Illinois University Wednesday but something was clearly different this year.
Masks, less traffic and plenty of social distancing were some of the signs of the times as students followed the requirements by the university to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Wednesday was the first of three move-in days for freshman as opposed to the usual one.
