KIRKLAND – DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident where a Chevrolet sports-utility vehicle struck a 10-year-old child Monday afternoon.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, at about 5 p.m. the SUV was traveling west on in the 200 block of Main Street when, as it approached Second Street, the child ran into the roadway in front of the SUV and the SUV struck the child.
The child was taken to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford with non-life threatening injuries, according to the release. No charges have been filed, according to the release, and the incident is still under investigation.
