Police investigating fight involving several students at Yorkville High School

Yorkville police are continuing their investigation into a fight involving several students that occurred in the Learning Stairs area of Yorkville High School, 797 Game Farm Road, this morning, Feb. 24.

In an email to high school parents and guardians, YHS Principal David Travis said police along with Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District personnel were summoned to the school during a passing period.

“YHS administration, Yorkville Police Department, and paramedics responded swiftly and accordingly. After reviewing the situation, the paramedics transported one student to a local hospital for further observation,” Travis said, adding, “The Yorkville Police Department is working with Yorkville CUSD 115 while the investigation is ongoing, and will provide additional police presence at the end of the school day.”

Travis concluded: “We take the safety and health of our students and staff very seriously and I would like to thank the Yorkville Police Department for their quick response and attention to the safety of our students. As safety is a top priority in the district, we would like to remind parents to review the Parent-Student Handbook and discuss with their children the importance of not engaging in activity that endangers the health or safety of students and staff. If your child expresses concerns, please encourage your child to speak directly with a school administrator, dean, counselor, or social worker.”
