SANDWICH – A DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy clocked a Sandwich man, who was driving a luxury car, driving 46 mph above the speed limit Thursday at Pratt and East Sandwich roads in Sandwich.
Gregg A. Arns, 54, was driving a black Mercedes Benz E550 when the deputy pulled him over for driving 101 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office news release. Arns was charged with misdemeanor speeding, driving without insurance and felony driving while his license is revoked.
Arns’ license was revoked after he was charged with driving under the influence. Arns was issued a restricted driving permit that allowed him to drive a car equipped with an ignition interlock device, which requires a driver to exhale into it in order to start their car.
The Mercedes he was driving Thursday was not equipped with an ignition interlock device, the release said.
The deputy arrested Arns, and he was taken to the DeKalb County Jail in Sycamore.
