Resource Fair Saturday at DeKalb Community Center to aid displaced residents

DeKALB – Multiple social service agencies are pooling together to hold a resource fair Saturday to aid the almost 200 residents displaced recently after suspected arsons at DeKalb apartment complexes.

The fair is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the DeKalb Community Center, 330 Grove St.

Area agencies have been scrambling in the days after the fires at 808 Ridge Drive and 930 Greenbrier Road to provide shelter, aid and other assistance to those displaced.

The American Red Cross, Family Service Agency, Elder Care Services, Voluntary Action Center and others will be on hand Saturday to provide free assistance, according to a news release from the Family Service Agency.

Assistance will include helping find permanent housing; providing clothing, food, minor household items, infant and toddler items, transportation assistance, family-centered case management and employment services; and helping apply for government services, according to the release.
