Safe Passage to hold Valentine's Day event open to community

DeKALB – Safe Passage, DeKalb County’s domestic violence and sexual assault crisis center, will host a Valentine’s Day fundraiser Feb. 21 to promote love over violence.

LOVE: Love Over Violence Event will go from 7 to 10 p.m. at Blumen Gardens, 325 Edward Street, Sycamore, and will feature live music, appetizers, cocktails and more.

You can purchase raffle and event tickets now through Feb. 21 online at, by phone at 815-758-1225 or at the Egyptian Theatre Box Office, 13 N. Second St., DeKalb, Tuesday through Thursday 3 to 6 p.m. Event tickets are $50 per person, according to a news release.

The raffle drawing will take place at the event, though attendance is not required to win.

A new feature this year is the balloon pull, filled with several prizes including tickets to see the Chicago White Sox, gift cards to local restaurants, free museum entries and more. Raffle tickers will also be available for a chance to win a handmade quilt designed by a Sate Passage staff member, a nonprofit fundraiser basket filled with tickets to local events, and two tickets to Chicago live at the Coronado Performing Arts Center.

In addition to safe housing, the organization offers crisis intervention and medical advocacy for victims, counseling, legal advocacy, children’s services, prevention programming and a partners abuse intervention program. Safe Passage serves people of all genders and ages, and services are free and confidential.
