Salem Lutheran Church food pantry given Midwest Dairy grant

SYCAMORE – The food pantry at Salem Lutheran Church recently expanded its refrigeration capacity thanks to local dairy farmer Bill Deutsch.

The industrial grade refrigeration unit was provided through a Community Relief Grant set up by Midwest Dairy, an organization representing 6,500 hardworking dairy farm families throughout the Midwest.

“We are thrilled that Bill Deutsch applied for this Community Relief Grant and feel so blessed to receive one,” food pantry director Liz Ezell said. “This unit will help keep the families our food pantry serves nourished with dairy and other perishable items during this unprecedented time.”

Salem Lutheran Church’s food pantry, located at 1145 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore, is open to all DeKalb County residents from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
