Sandwich Fire Protection District chief dies at age 47

The fire chief for the Sandwich Fire Protection District has died, according to a fire trustee official.

Jeff Beverage, president of the Sandwich Fire Protection District Board of Trustees and owner of Beverage Family Funeral Home, wrote in a Facebook post Monday that he was sorry to report that Sandwich Fire Chief Jason Pruski had died. Pruski was 47 years old at the time of his death.

“What a great guy and fire chief,” Beverage wrote. “Please pray for his family as they go through this terrible loss.”

Sandwich Police said in a statement on Facebook that they extend their condolences to the “immediate and extended fire department family of Jake Pruski,” the Monday post said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time,” the post said. “Jake was a good man and a tremendous asset to the fire service and our community and will be sorely missed.”

Information about the circumstances of Pruski’s death and services following Pruski’s death were not immediately available.
