Sandwich man taken to hospital after single-vehicle crash, cited for drunken driving

The La Salle County Sheriff’s Office believes alcohol was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday morning in Adams Township.

According to deputies, Maxwell Waszak, 25, of Sandwich, was traveling southwest on U.S. 34 at 1:23 a.m. Saturday when his vehicle went off the roadway to the right. His vehicle then struck the ditch and rolled over several times before coming to rest in the field.

Waszak was taken to Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital by Leland EMS.

Waszak was arrested on complaints of DUI, driving while license suspended, no seat belt, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Waszak was given a court date.
