Sandwich Park District to host parade, 5K race and fireworks over Labor Day Weekend

SANDWICH – Though the Fourth of July festivities had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sandwich Park District on Monday announced it will be hosting a parade, Freedom Run 5K Race and a fireworks show over Labor Day weekend.

The parade will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5. The route will be announced at a later date.

The Freedom Run 5K will be held at Knights Park at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. Fireworks will be held at dusk Sunday, Sept. 6. With the shutdown of the Sandwich Fairgrounds, the fireworks will be held at a different location, which will be announced at a later date.

Usually donations are accepted at the gate of the Sandwich Fairgrounds to help offset the cost of the fireworks. With the venue changing this year, the Sandwich Park District is asking for donations to be made online or at donation locations around town.
