Stage Coach collecting toys, food for holidays

DeKALB – Stage Coach Players of DeKalb will continue to perform community outreach during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each Tuesday in November, the theater group will collect food and toys for the holidays. They also will have fabric to create masks.

Stage Coach Players is partnering with The Salvation Army to collect canned vegetables and fruits, instant mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, a premixed dessert box and $10 gift cards that will go toward the purchase of a turkey. Items will be boxed and distributed to local families for Thanksgiving.

Stage Coach Players also is collecting toys for the U. S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

Both collections will run from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays in November and take place in the back parking lot of Stage Coach Players, 126 S. Fifth St. in DeKalb.

Donors can look for additional donation locations or contact Stage Coach Players via its Facebook page

In addition to the food and toy drives, Stage Coach Players continues to offer virtual entertainment. A cabaret series is available on the Stage Coach Players’ YouTube channel. Episode seven of 10, “Decades of Disney,” will premiere at 6 p.m. Nov. 21. The episode will feature a song from each decade of Disney in film and stage.

“It Was A Dark and Stormy Night … Scary Stories with Stage Coach Players” will continue to run on the group’s YouTube channel through Nov. 23.
