SYCAMORE – Illinois House Minority Leader Jim Durkin, R-Western Springs, has appointed state Rep. Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore, to the Make Sexual Abuse Fully Extinct Task Force, according to a news release Keicher’s office release.
The task force will review best practices for preventing the sexual abuse of students from pre-kindergarten through high school in school-related settings or by school-related perpetrators, including school employees or other students.
It will also look at how to best address abuse and the proper support for students who have been abused.
Keicher said sexual abuse and exploitation of students must absolutely be eradicated.
“I have seen firsthand the devastation sexual abuse can have on the life of a child,” he said. “The absolute horror my cousin was subjected to that the family was unaware of and the struggles she faced her entire life as a result cannot be put into words.”
