Favorite class: AP psychology or government.

Least-favorite class: Any English class. English is not my strongest subject

Favorite teachers: Alexandra Miller. She was my accelerated English teacher sophomore year and made it fun while also helping me develop a lot in a subject that isn’t my favorite or my best. Stephen Johnson is my other top choice because he made chemistry interesting and always made the class laugh with his jokes.

School activities in which you participate: Swim team, National Honor Society, Robotics Club, and Young Doctors League.

Civic, church, or other volunteer activities in which you participate: I help with the Hospice of the Rock River Valley Country Christmas Store in the winter. I also often serve as a timer at swim meets.

Do you have a job? I work as a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor at the Sterling Park District Duis Center. I love this job because of the interactions I get to have with the people who come in, and I love seeing a young kid who is scared to do something overcome their fear and want to keep doing what they previously thought was impossible or scary.

How would you describe your group of friends? Funny, supportive, and competitive.

What will you do after high school? I will be attending college but I am still working out the details of where. I am undecided on my major but I am leaning toward either kinesiology or business.

What is something you learned in high school that you think you’ll never use? Photoshop, because while it’s possible I might use it later on, I think it is very unlikely.

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be ? I wouldn’t change much just maybe add more of a focus on career exploration earlier on. I wish I was more prepared for all of the big decisions I am having to make this year.

If you could create any new class at your school, what would be be? Some sort of sports science class.

What does it take to be a successful high school student? Communication with your teachers, hard work, and trying to treat everyone with respect.

What do you do in your free time? I play video games and watch movies/sports. In the summer, I like playing basketball and going to the river. In the winter I like to ice skate, play hockey, and ski.

What’s are the things in your life you can’t do without? Family and music. Family keeps me grounded and picks me up when I am down. Music is needed when I’m driving, I can’t stand a silent car ride.

What kind of music are you listening to? Some country music, some rap, some classic rock, and even some alternative music. I listen to a variety of genres.

What scares you? Figuring out what I’m going to do next in life.

If you could try any job for the day, what would it be? General manager of the Chicago Bears.

If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? France.

What is your favorite childhood memory? Christmas morning when I was younger.

What is the best way to cheer you up? Play music or say something funny/laugh.

What is your life’s philosophy? Work hard and be nice to people and good things will happen to you.
