Sycamore Jimmy John's closed as of Wednesday afternoon though reasons for closure left unanswered

SYCAMORE – A local sandwich shop appears to be closed after customers alleged the restaurant was not taking orders.

A private social media post alleged on Wednesday the Jimmy John’s restaurant, 1170 DeKalb Avenue Suite 106 in Sycamore closed early on Wednesday and orders were not being taken if customers called to place an order. Commenters alleged the closure was COVID-19 related.

According to the Jimmy John’s website, the store is listed as being open and delivering until 9 p.m. as of 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. However, the doors of the shop were locked, there was no signage displayed explaining why the doors were locked and a couple of employees could be seen cleaning the inside of the restaurant as of 3:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Jimmy John’s employees at the Sycamore location did not answer Daily Chronicle’s phone call Wednesday afternoon.

It’s unclear how long the closure will last and whether it’s permanent. There has been no confirmation to Daily Chronicle directly whether the closure is COVID-19 related.

DeKalb County Health Department officials were not available for comment on Wednesday.

Spokespeople from Jimmy John’s and Inspire Brands, which acquired the restaurant chain in October 2019, did not return requests for comment on Wednesday from Daily Chronicle.
