Sycamore's Turning Back Time Car Club names new president, director

SYCAMORE – The Turning Back Time Car Club has named Madeline DeVito as its new president and director.

DeVito, the volunteer club’s first female president in its 20-year history, will serve a 3-year term, according to a Turning Back Time Car Club news release.

The club donates all of the proceeds from its annual ​​Fizz Ehrler Memorial Turning Back Time Car Show, which happens on the last Sunday in July in Sycamore, to local charities.

Mike Tritle passed the torch to DeVito, who was born and raised in Sycamore. She is also a fifth-grade teacher at North Grove Elementary.

DeVito is not new to cars. Classic cars have been her hobby since she worked on her dad’s Jeep. She is now a member of a local Jeep club.

Her main focus is to keep the show tied to its roots, to keep it the show for families as it was when Chuck Criswell began it, according to the release. It was later named in honor of Fizz Ehrler.

DeVito has been on the Car Club Committee since 2012 and has worked parts of the show known for involving children in the hobby of classic cars, including the Kid’s Choice Awards and the involving local schools in the designs of car show promotions.

The next Turning Back Time Car Show is Sunday, July 29 in downtown Sycamore.
