Update: Carjacking in Maple Park Saturday afternoon believed to be related to Aurora carjacking that critically injured woman in drive-thru

MAPLE PARK – A carjacking in Maple Park Saturday afternoon is believed to be related to a carjacking that critically injured a woman as she was in the drive-thru line at an Aurora Wendy’s later in the day.

Aurora Police is currently searching for the woman’s vehicle that was taken during the carjacking, which is described as a Red 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe with an Illinois license plate of AE89203. If the vehicle is spotted, call 9-1-1 immediately.

According to the Maple Park Police Department, officers responded to a reported carjacking at 3:20 p.m. near County Line Road and Peterson Road. A post on the department’s Facebook page states that a man pulled over to help at the scene of what appeared to be an two-vehicle accident. Three armed suspects came out of the two cars and approached the man, who was still in his car, and demanded he get out of his car.

The suspects fled westbound on Barber Greene Road in the victim’s car.

Around 4 p.m., the victim’s car was involved in a carjacking at a Wendy’s restaurant on Orchard Road in Aurora. A woman waiting in the drive-thru line was shot and critically injured. She was airlifted to a local hospital, where her condition remains unknown Sunday morning.

The suspects were last seen traveling northbound on Orchard Road in a red Hyundai.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Paris Lewbel said more information about these incidents will be released as it becomes available.
