VAC temporary halts Meals on Wheels because of COVID-19

The administration of Voluntary Action Center has temporarily closed the Meals on Wheels nutrition program at Fox Valley Community Center in Sandwich because of COVID-19 concerns.

VAC will announce plans for resumption of service as soon as safe operating conditions can be determined.

The goal of VAC is to ensure the safety and food security of all clients in its service area. The staff at the Sandwich kitchen have worked to ensure that all seniors and disabled individuals receiving Meals on Wheels have had regular deliveries of frozen and shelf-stable meals to fill their pantries in the event of a closure of this sort.

All other VAC kitchens in the service area of DeKalb, LaSalle, Putnam and Bureau counties are operating as usual.
