Vietnam veterans honored at Oswego ceremony

U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville hosted her second pinning ceremony to honor Vietnam War era veterans from the 14th Congressional District Sunday afternoon, March 8, at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 East Washington Street in Oswego.

The pinning ceremony is part of an ongoing national effort to honor all Vietnam War period veterans who served from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975 or their surviving family members. Honored veterans were recognized with a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin and Certificate of Honor.

During the ceremony Underwood was joined by Oswego resident, Joe West, commander of the Oswego American Legion Post 675.

A large crowd of area Vietnam era veterans and their families attended the ceremony.

Last November, Congresswoman Underwood hosted her first pinning ceremony in McHenry, where she honored over 200 veterans and family members from the 14th District who served during the Vietnam War.Residents of the 14th Congressional District may RSVP to attend here:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/vietnam-war-50th-commemoration-ceremony-tickets-90223949261
